Chloe is a 9 month old girl who was diagnosed on Jan. 22nd with a very rare genetic blood disorder, Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome (aHUS). Atypical HUS destroys red blood cells and damages kidney function, and recurrences are typically worse than the initial attack. Chloe has been fighting for her life in SU Upstate Medical Hospital, where she receives regular blood and plasma transfusions. She will go home with a permanent IV line, and continue to receive plasma transfusions in Syracuse once she is released from the hospital.

There will be a benefit for her this coming Friday March 5th.
Besides a spaghetti dinner and music there will be raffles and prizes including gift certificates from local businesses (including us!) Please make sure you come out and support Chloe!!

Pheasant Hill Country Club 10/10/09

I finally was able to meet up with Chef Lee Dunham from An Affair to Remember Catering this past Saturday to take some pics of his work (www.anaffairtoremembercatering.net). He and his staff were doing the catering for a wedding at Pheasant Hill Country Club in Owego, NY (www.pheasanthillcc.com). It was pretty interesting to see all of the work that goes into preparing the food between the hour'derves for the cocktail hour and the actual meal. I am always aware of the tight time line we are on as photographers, but have never thought about the caterers being on a time line also!! Chef Lee and his staff were not only great cooks but really nice to work with. The food looked absolutely beautiful and tasted wonderful too! I think the pic I had the most fun with was the flaming steaks (below). Congrats to the bride and groom - it turned out to be a gorgeous fall day.

I'm sorry I haven't posted anything in a while since I've been super busy this summer with my 11 month old, Elijah and also working weddings with my photographer friend Renee Marquis. I am posting a few pics of Elijah below as some of you haven't seen him in a while or at all. And no I do not have Elijah trained to edit my photos yet, even though it looks like it!! (By the way you need to check out my facebook page as Renee took some cute pics of Elijah on Sunday).
I did have the chance to finally get together with Chef Lee Dunham (An Affair to Remember Catering) at one of his events this weekend. I will be posting some of my favorite pics in the next day or so.

Besides doing weddings myself, I've been busy this summer photographing weddings as a second photographer for my good friend Renee Marquis. July 14th Renee was in charge of setting up a photo safari with our local photographer group. This safari was themed photographing high school seniors. I am including several of my favorite pictures. I had the privelage of photographing my cousin Joy's wedding. Curtis and Joy were married outside and they could not have asked for nicer weather. I think Aunt Nancy might have put in a good word :-) They had a nice family reception that included worship music. It's been a little while since I've blogged. As some of you know we're expecting a baby boy next month, so I have not had very many weddings this yr. I've filled in some weekends with working for my good friend and photographer Renee Marquis. We had an exciting morning today as she took some maternity photos of me and our little guy (who will be making an appearance soon) at Falls Creek in Ithaca. I can tell you that it is very different to be on the opposite end of the camera! I can't wait to see the photos - I'll ask her if I can post some on here for you guys. I am 36 weeks along and today was the perfect day to do the shoot with the warm weather we'll be able to enjoy for the next few days. (If you can't tell I am sad summer has ended - I miss our camping trips and time out swimming and fishing off our little boat!) As far as anything else new, I photographed Brie and Dan's wedding this past weekend with Renee as my second photographer. I will be posting up some photos in the next couple of days.

Erin and Dustin were married at Traditions at the Glen on Saturday, May 10th. Erin looked beautiful and wore a gorgeous red and ivory dress. We took Erin and Dustin to Falls Creek in Ithaca, then to the Farmers Market and a Star Wars Mural. If it wasn't for my good friend and fellow photographer, Renee showing us where the murals were, we would have missed out on some great photo opportunities. Erin and Dustin roughed the cold weather and were still up for having their photos taken, even when it started snowing! We had a lot of fun and I can't wait for their wedding in May.

Julie and Chris were married at the Towanda Country Club in Wysox, PA. It was supposed to rain that day, but we were blessed with sunshine and were able to have their ceremony outdoors. Maegan and Dave were married on 987 at the Owego Treadway Inn. They had to have their ceremony indoors because of a storm, but they adjusted very well and were wonderful to work with. It ended up giving me more ways to be creative and we were able to get some awesome shots in the elevator! The last photo of Maegan and her sisters is a reenactment of a photo that was taken yrs ago. We did take a few photos outside once the storm let up, but most of my fav's ended up being inside!

I wanted to give everyone an update. I am feeling better and am back to work. Currently I am finishing editing a wedding and working on albums. When I am caught up, I will be posting photos from this summer and fall.

Once again I've had the privilege to work with Tony from On the Spot Photo taking pet photos with Santa. This is my favorite time of year and I absolutely love working with animals. We were at Creature Comforts in Binghamton, NY last weekend and will be there again this weekend. If you are in the area feel free to stop by. We will be there from 10:00 to 6:00 Saturday 12/8 and 11:00 to 5:00 Sunday 12/9. Anyone can have photos taken with Santa, not just your pets.. we've had children, adults and families with and without their pets. We also have not limited it to just dogs and cats. We have anything from birds, rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, to reptiles and amphibians! Looking forward to seeing you!

Our precious little baby

I wanted to give everyone an update who has heard that I was pregnant, or heard about our loss.

I was in my third month of pregnancy (11 weeks) when I started spotting. We went to the ER last Sunday (11/4) and they did a bunch of tests. When they did the ultrasound we couldn't see the baby. At first the technician who did the ultrasound just thought I wasn't as far along as we were told I was. I was sent back to the ER until they were able to sort things out. My midwife ended up being the one on call and she came in and gently told us that our little baby had died two weeks before. We were so shocked to hear this as we didn't know there was anything wrong with him. I never imagined anything like this would ever happen.

While we don't understand why certain things happen, I know he is up in heaven waiting for us. (We feel in our hearts that it was a boy). My husband keeps reminding me that God sees the whole picture and He is sovereign.

I've had quite a rough week and a half. Thank you to everyone that knew and prayed for us, called, e-mailed, stopped by or made us meals. It's been helping us to get through. I've had no energy and am still exhausted from everything I've been going through physically and emotionally. Even little things remind me of the baby and make me cry. We had so many plans and dreams for this baby. He was wanted and loved and is already missed. My parents are having a hard time as I am their only child and this is their first grand baby. My grandmother took the news hard also. She cried a lot and is sad. We will be able to try to have more children in the future, but we are grieving this one. We will never be able to have this baby again..

I guess I never understood what someone went through when they had a miscarriage... physically and emotionally. I ended up going through the labor pains to pass everything naturally instead of having a D and E (Dial ate and Evacuate). I've been on bedrest, so I haven't been on the computer much. My midwife took me out of work this week and last week. I transferred some work to my laptop so I can try to catch up a little when I have the energy. My mother has been of such great help. She has been here every day and stayed up with me all night last Monday into Tuesday. She's been waiting on me hand and foot and even cleaned my house for me! My husband has also been a great source of comfort and has been taking care of me also while he too is grieving.

Thank you for keeping us in your prayers. I always thought it was strange when I heard someone say they felt the prayers.. but now I know what they mean. I've had a lot of peace and am feeling God's grace. I know that everyone's prayers are carrying us through.

I thought I would start posting up some of the portrait sessions I had over the summer...

In June, I had the privilege to photograph the Fargnoli's including Connor and Brie who were in MaryBeth and Adam's wedding (Sept 06) and Conner who was in Chrissy and Ben's wedding (6-9-07). We started out at Cutler Botanic Gardens and ended up in the sand at Otstenango Park (by the volleyball nets!) I love children and they are so much fun to photograph. There were so many of my favorites .. it was hard to choose which ones to post!

Besides that I was having problems with Internet Explorer most of last week and haven't been able to access the Internet much. Dan and Erin 5-24-07

We went to Otstenango Park for Dan and Erin's engagement session. While we were there we took some photos around the ferns by the river, and then Dan mentioned going in the river. It was at least 80 degrees out, Erin had a skirt on and Dan was going to roll his pants up and they'd put their feet in. Well, Dan ended up not being able to roll his pants up but still got in. And, as you can see, they are in a little deeper than they were planning on! I'm always up for anything and even got in the water myself and photographed them from there!

Joe and Judee's ceremony was held at St Anthony's Church in Endicott, with the reception at Endwell Greens. It kept trying to rain, but we all kept praying that it would hold off and it did. We were able to take the golf carts out to get some nice photos at one of the ponds and up by the Verde Views Bed and Breakfast. Here are some of my fav's. With Chrissy and Ben, we ended up going to a few different locations for their engagement shoot. We started out at Tioga Gardens, but because the flowers were not in bloom yet, we took a few photos on the bridge, went inside to the solarium and got photos there, then went to the Owego Treadway Inn for more photos. We even ended up taking a few outside the new Hampton Inn! Here are a few of my fav's from the shoot:

We went to Robert H. Treman State Park in Ithaca to photograph Cynthia and Matt's Engagements. When Cynthia asked me if I could take their photos at the park, I was excited because I love waterfalls. One of my assistants and fellow photographer, Renee Marquis was also able to make it to the shoot with us for some different angles too. We had a great time and ended up being there for a couple of hrs, by the time we hiked around the trails and made them stop for pictures every few feet! I'm glad that we were able to get through the main trail so that we could get closer to the falls. Here are some of my fav's.

Christine and Scott were scheduled to have their photos taken at the Botanic Gardens in Binghamton, but because of the frost we had a couple of weeks prior, there were not many flowers out. We ended up going to the Walking Bridge / Confluence Park instead. I've taken several bride's and groom's there before for formals after a ceremony, but have not done engagements there until now. (Thanks for the idea Scott!) As you can see in the background of two of the photos, part of the walkway was under water! It still worked out and we had a lot of fun anyway! I am posting a few of my fav's.

Our new bridal registry cards arrived today! I wanted to use an image that would signify love, without using a photo of a wedding couple. When I went through my images from the past several months, the photo of this rose seemed to fit the best.

Congratulations to Tami and Angelo who were married on March 16, 2007! Angelo is in the military, so they had a small ceremony and will be having a full ceremony and reception in August. Even though we had a winter storm, I was able to make it there to take a few photos.

Due to the weather, we headed to Rec Park for Tami and Angelo's engagements. As you can see, we started out in the band shell, but ended up doing most of the shoot on the playground! It was snowing the entire time, but they weren't afraid to be in it. Some of my fav's are below, including a photo of Tami making a snowball to throw back at Angelo, after he hit her with one!

Veronica's 21st

Veronica's birthday party was a blast! She had a Mardi Gras theme and everyone got to wear beads, pins, hats and masks. I put on a mask at the end of the night, and would have sooner if I could have seen through it to take photos! They even included us in the activities and we won a piece of birthday cake to take home! Here are a few of my fav's from the night including a photo of Veronica's sisters singing a song for her.

Laura and Chiedu Okoh 12/30/06

Laura and Chiedu's wedding was wondeful! They were married at St. Ambrose in Endicott which is such a beautiful church and had their reception at Endwell Greens. They were a great couple to work with and both families were really nice. I enjoyed the short sermon that the father of the groom gave during the prayer at the reception.
